Holmes Institute Pathways

The Foundation Programme developed by Holmes Institute is designed to support students preparing for an honour’s degree at EQF Level 6. The programme aims to provide a suitable learning and teaching environment to enable international students to acclimatise to the UK higher education environment.

The programme assessment strategy is designed to ensure that students have an opportunity to demonstrate they have achieved the module learning outcomes and to ensure students have a variety of assessment tasks balanced across the semester.

There are two assessment tasks for each module that contribute to the module grade and combine elements of both formative and summative assessment. English for Academic Purposes is the exception with three assessment tasks designed to test competency in all the areas required. Students who do not satisfy the threshold competence for this module have another attempt in the second semester in addition to the normal resit opportunities.
